Clipfish is salted and dried whitefish, traditionally cod, and one of Norway's oldest export products. Buyers in Portugal, Brazil and other bacalhau markets ask for it by species, size and cure.

Catch and area
Produced along the west coast from cod, saithe, ling and tusk: the fish is split, salted, matured and then dried. Ålesund and the surrounding region is the historical centre of the trade.
